She / Her / Hers / They / Them
Sometimes, community just means knowing you aren't alone. But for me, the ideal community I strive to foster is queer and intersectional, and the people in it are committed to listening to each other, being generous, challenging each other with care and compassion, and elevating each other whenever and however possible.
If you are struggling with you gender and/or sexual identity: Give it time. Gender and sexuality are so pressurized, so high-stakes in pop-culture and the media. But life is a journey, and gender can also be a journey, and sexuality is definitely a journey, so take a deep breath and don't push yourself. Try things out. Talk to people you trust. Talk to your queer elders, and read queer literature. (Don't read shitty magazines, and don't compare yourself to people on TV.) You aren't alone, and you don't have to have all the answers right now. Give it time.
If you are unable to be your authentic self due to immediate circumstances: That's totally f*cked and I'm sorry. Sometimes that's just reality, and it can take time and/or resources to escape those circumstances. Save up your pennies and move to New York (or San Fran, or Miami, or...) Your people are out there somewhere, ready to love you and accept you for who you are.
There's no good answer to the question of what to say to anyone who may be experiencing bullying or peer pressure due to being queer, so I'm just going to keep saying YOU AREN'T ALONE. There are people in the world who are ready to see you and understand you, and who will love you in all your queer glory - hold tight and stay strong until you find them. I promise it'll be worth it.
Please note – our sizes are true to size. The medium will be a true medium and not a smallish-medium, like some companies. The sizes are also true to most average underwear garments, so if you normally buy a large in underwear that is the size you should buy from Play Out underwear.
